Just a little bit of beauty to share….
This is a photo of a Red-laced Wyandotte, up close. You can see how beautiful her feathers are!
True to name, this breed has a lacy, black-and-red pattern, but what really makes the colors great is how the black shines green in the sun. It’s pretty in the picture; it’s amazing in person. There’s a lot to be said for iridescence.
Red-laced Wyandottes are one of our principal flocks, which means we have chicks and fertile (hatching) eggs from this breed all year round. Of course, there are fewer chicks and eggs in the winter time. But now that spring is rolling around, the ladies are back at it.
You can learn a little more about these birds on our “Meet Our Chickens” page. Red and Silver Wyandottes are the first section: see how we keep ours, and what they’re like.
And if you want chicks or eggs, by all means, let us know! Write to healingponds@gmail.com, or call (503) 646-6409. Thanks for reading!
I had a Gold Laced Wyndotte when I lived in Newberg. She was a very nice hen.
Yes, I find the Red Laced to be nice, too – not as fiery as the Rhode Island Reds, not as gentle as a Buff Orpington, just a nice all around hen.
I breed gold laced wyandottes. They are also very beautiful. Red laced in very rare here in Australia.
